I don't think we will see it any time soon because if you look at the phones c-spire have it looks like all of them came out for a while I have not seen any new or just release phones and I have been with them for a long time.

I went to my local store yesterday to purchace a XOOM and noticed one of the "Engagement" specialists with one, testing the device before release? Before I purchased my Galaxy S, the Disover center rep had one, he said they test them before they release them for sale. So "YES" they are getting them before the end of the year.

I will be super excited if they come out with this phone really soon, but I want them to fully convert to 4G before I get an amazing phone like this. I'm holding out my upgrade for this phone lol

The Galaxy S2 would be nice but my Galaxy S won't be able to access the 4G service. Actually no one will unless they buy a new 4G compatible phone.

Oh but Im sure that is plan! See you get a new phone now under contract and pay $99. Then without notice that new phone you have to have comes out but you do not want to wait 12 months before you can pay a fee then upgrade..Oh no you need it now so you will drop $500 on that new phone! But I bet really they probablly make very little on the phones and more on the plans, so maybe my theroy is null and void! ANyways it was a good thought! haha

I read the reviews and specs on the Sprint branded Samsung Galaxy SII Epic 4G Touch, hands down one of the most powerful android powered phones out there. I would be interested to know if C Spire will soon offer phones with dual core processors as well. Most of the big name carriers have been selling dual core phones for the last 6 months but C Spire is still selling single core units new. I am able to upgrade in January and I would be really aggravated if I bought the Milestone X or Galaxy S just to find out that a month later the dual core 4G units are coming out : (

    • Re: samsung galaxy s 2
      Vibrant

I completey agree. I've had my HTC Hero for a long time now and I am ready to get a new phone, a great phone and one of the main reason I'm not getting an iPhone is because I have an iPod touch and they basically do the same thing (calling, texting, video call, etc)

Personally I like the Android software a little better than Apple for phone usage, but just to do everything else, I like both of them the same. Also my family has AT&T and almost all of them have the iPhone 4 so I know what they're like.

I would greatly appreciate it if C Spire would make it fair for all users Apple, Android, Blackberry, Windows.

They all need to be acknowledge we need to know what phones we are getting, instead of just pushing the iPhone. Because the Galaxy S II is one of the most amazing android out.

If the S II comes out soon, then I would go to the store and test both of them out and see which one you like better so you won't have to be stuck with a phone you don't want.

@Christie N. I think you'll like the iPhone thought, the only reason I'm not so trilled is because my iPod touch can do the same things lol. As long as you don't end up like me stuck with a phone you hate lol

            CYNTHIA FULLER Enlightened

I don't want an iPhone because they are so locked in. With the Android you can add memory cards, replace the battery and tons of free apps from the Marketplace. I also like the fact your contacts sync with a google email account.  don't have to worry about iTunes losing my stuff. I also have an iPod and I do not like iTunes. I currently have the HTC Hero. I am not out of contract and am patiently waiting. I am really hoping the Samsung Galaxy II or maybe they will get the new Razr 9 (doubt it though). I am ready for a new phone.

I feel the same way I need a phone with freedom. I have an HTC Hero also I've had it for 20 months and this is the phone I'm waiting for, I know for sure it will get the android 4.0 (ice cream sandwhich) update. and if it doesn't come out soon (like end of january) i'll just get an unlock version because this is an amaizng phone.

When you tested the galaxy s 2, what features are different if you don't mind me asking. What is the difference. I've only seen one at Walmart but you can't test them, they are just for show. Me and my husband are holding out as well.

                • Re: samsung galaxy s 2
                  Vibrant

It's way faster it currently has Android 2.3.5, you can talk to the phone and it does stuff like send a text message and other things, 8 megapixel 1080p camera that is , it feels great when I pick it up, it has an app called Kies Air it's where you don't have tp plug the phone up to the computer you can just put stuff on the phone to computer and vice versa. The screen is really nice. It already has 16GB of memory and you can add up to a 32GB memory card to the phone, giving it a total of 48GB. Oh my I can just go on and on about this phone. The one I looked at was the Skyrocket version which is the 4G LTE one. This phone is soooooooooooo worth the wait.

I love it so much. You should test one out if you have a chance.

Definitely! Been waiting to upgrade from my Hero for months...I was hearing it was to be released in October, then November, now December. Any official information would be nice so I could make plans for buying. It's kind of annoying, all the attention that's being placed on the iPhone right now...it's nice and all but there is just as big (if not bigger) a customer base for Android among C Spire subscribers and we all wanna know about the Galaxy S2!

    JASON KNOARZ Enlightened

It's interesting to see how many people have the Hero on these message boards and kinda looking now for something else to upgrade to. I'm in the same boat. The Hero has served us all well, but it's getting annoying and it's time for a change. I could handle an iPhone but I'm thinking I want to stick with Android and the Samsung Galaxy 2 sounds mighty impressive. Even the Samsung Galaxy 1 seems okay. I've played with it, and it's better than a Hero, but I figure if I've waited this long to upgrade, might as well wait a tiny bit longer and get the newest thing...

It wouldnt make sense if they didnt, in my opinion they should carry all three forms of the galaxy .

  • Re: samsung galaxy s 2

Heard something disturbing today about the Galaxy S2. Talked with a rep at the store and they said they didn't know when - or if - they were going to get it. Only that they had heard they were testing it on the network awhile back. Wonder if this has anything to do with the lawsuit against the ATT merger with T-Mobile. If they're not gonna get the GS2 I'll be really bummed about it but I'm considering just going ahead and getting the original Galaxy.

  • Re: samsung galaxy s 2
    Beaming

This is Ridiculous CSpire...why don't you guys just announce your phones a few months prior to their release dates? This would give you customers the opportunity to make a educated decision when buying a phone. Then you would have fewer customers upset because they wasted their upgrade before a specific phone landed on the network. I'm sure thousands of people have been holding out for the Nexus on Verizon, because they know it is coming. This would help tremendously...

I have ask several individuals that have some type of connection with Cspire in regards as to when the Galaxy S ii would be released.  I have been told that it is not to be released anytime soon.  I hate this, because I have one line that is due for an upgrade this Saturday and usually I give my husband a new phone for our anniversary.

I am scared to upgrade his phone because I know as soon as I do, the Galaxy S ii will be released.  I tried to get my husband to trade up to the iphone but he is like me and likes the android phones.  The iphone is popular because it is an Apple product but I think the android phones do as much as the iphone plus more.

I have one more person trying to get the inside scoop for me and if I find out any information that is different from your postings I will let you know.  But right now I am in the same boat as many of you are, sitting with an upgrade on my account but no phone to upgrade too that would be worth paying the fee for.

Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas.

This is an article courtesy of AndroidGuys.com which was released approximately 7 days ago about U.S. Cellular receiving the Samsung Galaxy S II:

U.S. Cellular has become the latest carrier to announce the Samsung Galaxy S II as part of their Android lineup. Stopping shy of giving us a specific launch date, we do know all the details that go into the U.S. Cellular iteration of the popular flagship phone.  Specs include a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED Plus display, a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, an 8-megapixel camera (LED flash), 16GB internal storage, and 3G connectivity.  Pricing will be $229.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate however those of you who trade in an existing smartphone could qualify for up to $150 credit.

SAMSUNG GALAXY S II COMING SOON TO U.S. CELLULAR

    Android-Powered Smartphone Delivers High-Speed Multi-tasking Capabilities

CHICAGO (Feb. 21, 2012) – U.S. Cellular (NYSE: USM) and Samsung Telecommunications America (Samsung Mobile) announced the upcoming availability of the Samsung Galaxy S® II. The Android™-powered smartphone is designed to deliver advanced multimedia features with a powerhouse 1.2 GHz dual-core processor. The 4.5-inch Super AMOLED Plus display shows brilliant colors, providing a vivid and crisp viewing experience. It will be available for $229.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate.

The Galaxy S II is ideal for the multi-tasker who also wants easy access to entertainment wherever they go. You can quickly update your calendar and browse the web to read the latest news, check the weather or get driving directions. The multimedia functions allow you and your family to keep up with your favorite TV shows and keep the kids entertained while you’re traveling with HD Games. With its superior screen display, camera, webcam and access to thousands of helpful applications in the Android Market™, customers will be able to get more done throughout the day.

“The Galaxy S II is the ultimate phone for people looking to simplify and organize their lives,” said Edward Perez, vice president of sales and marketing operations for U.S. Cellular. “The features combined with U.S. Cellular’s unique benefits, like our Battery Swap, make it the go-to device for customers who depend on their smartphone to keep up with their busy schedules.”

    Highlighted features:

    • 1.2 GHz dual-core processor (Samsung Exynos C210)
    • Powered by Android™ 2.3 (Gingerbread)
    • 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with LED Flash
    • Swype™ technology for quick text, picture and video messaging
    • 16 GB user memory – supports up to 32GB microSD™ cards

Smartphone enthusiasts who switch to U.S. Cellular get unique benefits, like new phones faster without continuously signing contracts, free Overage Protection and can participate in U.S. Cellular's Trade-In Program. U.S. Cellular offers customers the only points-based rewards program in the industry to get benefits for doing simple things like paying their wireless bill on time, adding a line or referring friends and family. Points can be used for new phones faster, additional lines, devices, accessories and ringtones. It’s one of the reasons U.S. Cellular has the happiest customers in wireless.

For more information about all of U.S. Cellular’s deals, plans and phones, and other restrictions on these offers, visit any U.S. Cellular store, go to uscellular.com or check out U.S. Cellular on Facebook.

The Samsung Galaxy S II will be available for $229.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate. Purchase of a data plan is required, and a new two-year agreement and activation fee may apply for new customers. Additional terms, conditions and/or charges may apply.

****Something to keep in mind is that U.S. Cellular is a larger based company than C Spire. I have watched for a while now and have noticed when U.S. Cellular launches a new phone, plans, etc., C Spire tends to follow. With that in mind, it is only a matter of time when C Spire will announce the Samsung Galaxy S II will be coming available. Also if you looked at the pricing that U.S. Cellular is most likely going to offer the Samsung Galaxy S II, C Spire will probably be the same or close. Another thing to keep in mind is C Spire is trying to get rid of the Samsung Galaxy S through the 'buy one get one free' program. That is a normal procedure of cellular services to get rid of inventory for newer models or if the current model has been discontinued. In due time people, C Spire will be announcing the Samsung Galaxy S II is coming. Hopefully it will be sooner rather than later since their are very eager customers awaiting to put down some cash for that new, shiney, fast, toy.

    Do not want.

The Galaxy S II was annouced about a year ago during Mobile World Congress. So, we are talking about a device that people have known about for a year and has been avaiable internationally since late last spring

Mobile World Congress 2012 started Sunday. While no GS3 was annouced as I, and many others expected, it is still hard to get excited for this phone when AT&T (which has an GSM and LTE version of this phone), TMob, and Sprint have had a variant for months now already. While Verizon has the Galaxy Nexus which is similar.

This phone doesn't even come with Android 4 which is a shame.  So on top of everything else, you have to wait for the ICS upgrade too? No thanks.

This is too little too late for US Cellular and same for CSpire if they carry it as well.

Im about like you now I really did want this phone but with the Galaxy S III right around the corner this is a no as of now as someone said on here already technology gets old fast. I dont think the Galaxy S III will be annouced at  MWC but I think it will get its own announcement. Its suppose to have 3D  and android 4.0 already installed (according to articles I have read).
